Back door

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the back entrance to the gated community of The Colony. I showed you the front entrance here. Not bad for the service access, is it ;-)

Speaking of which, the service industry is second only to tourism in Florida. Living large requires a lot of maintenance and support. Every day, through those gates, rolls an army of workers: pool cleaners, landscape architects, pet sitters, housemaids, caterers, handymen, exterminators, faux painters, carpet cleaners, air conditioning servicemen, the list goes on... Ironically, none of them live in Naples and most travel long distances, since there is a dire shortage of affordable housing in our county.

But that's a whole other post...

Lovely photograph, Isabella. Love the palm trees soaring up to that bluest sky. Pretty amazing back entrance as you say.

Thankyou for passing by Menton DP earlier. I've left a response for you.

tests of small Haïku :
“One day Visitor,
Think of a paradise of Summer Behind the Door.“

Superb photograph, which makes dream (same if today the weather were so nice that one took the coffee midday in terrace)

The horizontal lines of the palms, hedges and flowers is very effective. Good comments about the workers; it seems to be a problem in too many places.

Beautiful park!! It looks like a movie set from the 1950s, and I'm expecting some singing and dancing.

Beautiful photo and interesting explanation. I can dream of such a life however oersonally I think a community is better off if affordable housing is included in the mix.

Beautiful photo, it's nice to remember that it comes from someone's efforts.

The composition is wonderful. Color, color, colr. The fountain is set up just right with the blue water.

Olivier - lovely haiku, and I envy you sitting on a terrace in Evry...

Ming - even though it looks park-like, it is just an entrance...

Summer time is in each of your photo. I specially love colours and... Sky. What you said about workers it's worldwide dramatically true in nice places. Not a justification but a sad fact.

no matter the door into or out of Florida, on your daily photo blog it all just seems so close to heaven!

Back entrance ? How beautiful the front entrance would be. Saturated blue sky is just lovely Isabella

I went back to see the front entrance and didn't find it as striking as the back entrance here (perhaps because the lighting wasn't as good in the first shot).

Very valuable comments about the life of those who work here.

And when I read from Ruth's comment yesterday that she heard some cool music, I turned my speakers on too. It was FANTASTIC, thanks !

Isabella, did you see the movie from Juliete Binoche and William Hurt? They changed their houses in Paris and New York for a while? We should do that:)

We have a similar problem on Maui with affordable housing, and this is why so many migrate to the Mainland. There is a great need over here for people to work!
