Conflict

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is a re-enactment of the famous Battle of Bird River. The Blackbird troops are seen taunting the Whitebirds just before battle erupted. As history has told us, the results were a near disaster for birds of all feathers...

"Violence is the first refuge of the incompetent." Issac Asimov

Isaac Asimov, the great writer of science fiction. beautiful quotation of this large messior who has us leaves too quickly. Beautiful photograph, one would believe in a ball, in the medium the men who make the beautiful ones and of front the wall the women who wait the invitation has to dance.

Ain't nature wonderful? Do you think anyone told them that in Westerns the "good guys" have white hats, while the "bad guys" wear black? :)

White side is well ditched but black ranks are an ominous threat. Excellent. How many crumbles of bread did it take to get such a performance? Great quote. The Foundations series is one of my favorites.

Wonderful imagery! Reminds me of a chess board...all set up in a line.

And from what I know of birds, those cormorants definitely have the advantage of persistance!

This is a great shot. You really can see "battlelines" and it does seem like the black ones are getting ready to charge and the white birds are thinking about retreating.
Way to go, Izzy!

My friend Jenny of Sharon CT just told me I had to come see this. As soon as I saw those cormorants doing their wing-drying trick I knew why - I've shot & posted pics of them here in Portugal, but can never get so close as you have, without a decent lens. Great, the black/white symmetry!

Really like your sense of humor. Perfect with the picture.

By the way, I ordered some cookies for some out of town friends for Valentines Day from the company you posted earlier. Thanks for the recommendation! :)

A very memorable scene! I've never seen anything like it. And you were there! So, so funny, thinking of them reenacting a battle, my gosh. And I do love the Asimov quote. Fantastic post!

This looks like it's orchestrated for a film or something. So funny.

A few posts ago you gave us the technical name of darter or snake bird which i forgot the same day Isabella.

Let us thrust democracy down their throats, arm them to their teeth, and sell a few weapons to the white birds too. Good business.

sad that Asimov died before knowing GWB, but would have met his dad
