Age of enlightenment

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Lest you think that Naples is nothing more than beaches and golf courses, I'll have you know that we take our culture quite seriously here. You will find more than 100 art galleries downtown in Gallery Row, with everything from impressionists to cubists. In addition, there's the Naples Museum of Art, The Naples Players, The Philharmonic Center of Naples, Sugden Theater, a concert arena and other cultural attractions. Not bad for a winter resort town with a population of 22,000! That is why we were named "The top small art town in America".

Still, it is mostly about the beaches and golf courses :-)))

I couldn't help notice that name in the windows on the side. Not sure if it is to be seen from the inside or the outside. It looks like ZVZOU a kind of code for something. Nice pictures.

you are likely to especially live in a city with as many museums (with that on the teddy bears) and I hope that you will make some to us profit. I love the museums.

In answer your word has on my blog: Unfortunately there is an enormous difference between understanding and reading, to speak and write ;O)) when I read or write I have all my time + assistance of dictionary + assistance of translator, whereas in NYC I must manage, and I benefit from it to thank all Haitiens and Haitiennes for NYC which are very sympathetic nerves and speak French; O)

So, your nap in your hammock is finished?
I agree with Olivier about Haitiens (and Senegaleses!) in NYC! Have a nice Sunday, Isabella, mine is almost over...

I've been to quite a few places in Florida but never made it to Naples. The next time I get a chance, I will definitely stop by. It looks like it has alot to offer.

It adds so much to a town to have cultural venues.

I'll be coming to Florida next week although not nearly as south as you are! I hope it will be warm!

Abraham - the name on the side window is ZAZOU - a fancy boutique selling scarfs and purses for your bride of 50 years (isn't that right?)
Olivier - isn't there someone in Evry who wants to practice French in exchange for English conversations? When we lived in Paris, we were always looking for someone like that (or a group).
Alice - don't tell me you don't speak English either, because I won't believe it. I met a lot of French who admit to speaking "just a bit" and then launch into a long discourse in fluent English ;-)
Linda - it might seem tame after Paris and Provence but I think you'll like it here.
Susan - welcome back! Well, today we are having a cold spell, barely in the 60's, but later on in the week the temps go right back into the 80's. Hope you'll enjoy yourself!

As far as I am concerned, if I go to Naples - it will definitely be for the beaches.
Thanks, Isabella, for the colors in your photos.

Hi Isabella,
Re your post yesterday, and my
'six weird things' post, maybe we could try and transform the assignment to become 'six weird things about my town' - don't you think it could be fun?
Maybe six would be too hard to find. Maybe 3 would be enough...
What do you think?

isa said...

No, 6 would not be hard to find in Naples ;-)))
I think it's a great idea for a theme day - "name 3 weird things about your town". We should contact Denton with this suggestion...

I like so much to visit art galleries ...

Sounds like a perfect combination - go to the beach and then the art galleries. Do the galleries have signs saying "Shoes and T-Shirts Required"? :)

Love the red umbrella with the red flowers below and the red dash in the name of the gallery - great composition ready for you to take such a nice photo - and with the reflection in the glass. Super.

Thanks for stopping by Menton DP - and yes of course Bacchus needed wine not water - silly me!

love J x
