Detour

Hope you don't mind this little detour from our walking series, but it was St. Paddy's Day yesterday and who does not love a parade? So after a short drive to downtown Naples, we joined the thousands of old and young for some Irish cheer and warm green beer ;-)

Himself arrived with a bit of a scowl...

...but Molly was all smiles despite walking miles...

...and even Chris O'Columbus could hardly miss the party.

Hope you enjoy your Sunday break, but tomorrow bright and early we are hitting the trails again. See you then...

Great parade! How many Irish are in Naples I wonder. Does it matter? No! Altho I am not in St. Paul, last night I dreamed I celebrated St. Paddy's Day in my
Erin Go Braugh!!

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

You really said green beer! When "piika" from Canada wrote about green beer, I thought , she was joking because of my green theme, but
now I am just wondering :))

Wonderful atmosphere in your photos!

Wonderful parade and now a green countenance to replace the missing green beer.
Not me, Isabella, I just "heard" ...

Great! I can take a rest! Funny to only see adults on the floats (?) but no children...

It's fascinating to see how things like this are done throughout the globe.

So a real live Molly Malone! I've only seen the statue on the sidewalk in Dublin. I'd say she fits the bill quite well. Looks like a fun parade!

Poor Mimmu has never tried green beer. (Me either.)

Lovely colourful photos.
Just 2 questions
What does green beer taste like?
Why is their a C.Columbus float in an Irish parade?

what an amusing parade!!
and the weather is sooooo nice there!!
In Spain we don't have the St Patrick day but tomorrow is "el día del padre" (The day of the father or maybe Daddy's day), so say happy day to your dad! ;)

Thanks all for joining me in Naples!

Kate - I'm glad you celebrated SPD, if only in your dream ;-)

Mimmu - there certainly is plenty of green beer on this day (beer with some green food coloring)!

Ruth - you lead a sheltered life ;-) (but honestly, I only had a sip)

Angela - we are still trying to figure out what was Columbus doing here...unless he just wanted to party ;-)

Nikon - there were more than one ;-)
