Quiz Tuesday part 14

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Calling all naturalists and would-be botanists (Mimmu, you are excused;-). This photo was just taken at my neighbor Bob's garden. Seems like a straightforward question today:

What is this? And for an extra bonus: why is it crying?

Hmmm,it's an over ripe lemon?

I think it could be a "cédrat", sorry i don't find the translation in my dictionary...It's a sort of lemon but more parfumed, with a thick skin, used in pastry and to make candies. But it's just an idea...

Is it a quince?

It wanted to be s melon, but couldn't spell!

I had lemons that looked exactly like that in my garden.
It's not crying, it's weathering the rain.

All right, that was being very practical. How about a runny nose? Anyone got a hanky?

It's a lemon, and sometimes when life gives you lemons you cry.

Sweating because it's too hot in Florida weather??

Her we call it (and I think in Italy too) sicilian lemon.

It is crying because he knows he´s about to be squeezed.

Isabella you are clever and witty. I'm suspicious about this quiz because of your sentence "Seems like a straightforward question...."
I'm going against the trend here by guessing that this is a lime. It's crying because people always mistake it for a lemon.

It's a membrillo!! I really don't know how you say that in english... wait a minute I'm going to check my dictionary out... ok, it's a quince (and oh, it's already answer!)
And it's crying because you pour some water over it!
Or it was early in the morning and you caught a beautiful dew drop! ;)
Nice quiz! Did you make some quince jam? it's delicious!

Isabella you caught my Edith Piaf post before it got into its final stage. I invite you to come and have a look at the new version when you have a minute.
And tell me - did you sing along?

Gotta be a trick question. I feel I should know having lived in tropical Queenland but I give up. I don't know. Tell us.Tell us!

I'm too late, all the good guesses are taken. (Whew, I didn't know!)

And Nathalie has an Edith Piaf post -- I'm off . . .

I'm arriving here late and don't know but have enjoyed reading the comments -- I'm with Kate about it crying in the Florida heat.

Oh my, that's Uncle Harry, after a night of too much.
Do you really want to know why he's crying?

One of the consequences (or benefits if you prefer) of being a member of the DP family is that after a while, we get to know each other. Apparently, Chris & Deb got my number ;-) I can’t fool them! I might have to banish them from Tuesday quizzes.
Yes, their answer is correct – it is an overripe lime (did you know that they yellow with age?) and I was going to say that it cried because it was old and wrinkled…But actually, Bob had just finished watering his garden ;-)

Thanks to all for playing along and making the funniest comments! Hope to see you next Tuesday (except for Chris and Deb, of course;-)

Alice - it took me awhile, but I found out that a "cédrat" is a "citron" in English.
According to Wikipedia: "The citron goes by many names in different countries; one popular reference is cedrat, which is the french name for the fruit."

Opps! I came here too late to guess but I would have gotten it wrong anyway.

Whooaaa...got here to late to answer this quiz. I sure liked the smart ass answers, so maybe it was best that I arrived late to enjoy them all! So Isabella is tricky....I shall remember this clue.
