I came upon this fellow enjoying his mid morning snack. Although they have 80 teeth, alligators do not chew their food (unlike the crocs), which brings us to today's question:
can you see what he is swallowing whole?

I lime pits of my pigeons, but dimensioned of an alligator; O) I would say a club sandwitch….beautiful animal and beautiful photo.
Hmm, that little red thing sticking out . . . I have no idea!
Looks like a turtle! If it is then that is going to be rough on him!
well I don't see your leg in the shot, so thankfully it's not your foot!
My 12-yr-old grandson thinks it could be a snake. I think it's a bird of some kind--a flamingo perhaps??
A small mammal? A park sign?
At first glance it looks like a cat but I'm sure it can't be.
I think it's one of those Herons!
Curly's Photoshop
Where do you find these photos, Isabella? I'm glad to see the sun is out in Bonita Springs again! I, too, have no idea what that (little?) thing is eating, but I like the turtle idea.
Well, here's the story: when I first saw the gator I was convinced he was swallowing an upside-down toad (you must appreciate the fact that I didn't want to get too close:-) But when Victoria mentioned the turtle, I looked at other shots and it seems to be one, indeed (especially with the red tail sticking out!). So congrats to Victoria and Jusy for guessing right, to Kate and her grandson for trying hard, to Olivier, Gerald and Curly for being Euro-funny (and cruel!), to Deb&Chris for their corncern;-) and to Ruth...well, I am shocked how you concentrated on that sticking-out thing...
btw Jusy - timing is everyting! Sunny regards..
yikes! how did you get so near to photograph this?
i can't figure out what it is swallowing. it must be hungry!
Was this at a public area or at a zoo??
