It's not easy being green...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This special Sunday post is for all you kids, big and small. Look at this green lizard (inspecting the wasp nest in the eaves of the roof) and put yourself in his position: would you want to be green?

If you feel compassionate, go ahead and sing along with Kermit, but I must warn you - if you do, you'll be humming this tune all day long ;-)

"It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're not standing out
like flashy sparkles in the water or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be."

I remember to have seen very big green lizards when I was a little girl (yes, a long time ago!) but now, we only see some little brown ones...Too much pesticides, i think.

You must wear sunglasses all day long just to mute the explosions of color.
Do you see how he is looking back at you - is he a lizard or a "ham"?

That is a green. I like him.

This post is, what you could call "a cheerful post" !
A green colour of this lizard is like
young leaves of our birches in the end of May, I will show them then and
it`s a wonderful spring colour, believe me :) after brown and grey colours under melting snow. . . .

He's not exactly well camouflaged, is he? Such a bright, bright green and I too am refusing to click, just reading those lyrics is enough..

As a "green" supporter I really like this fella.

SInce you asked me on my blog I took a look at some Lizard WEB pages. I don't know much about Lizards on your side of the Atlantic but it might be a Green Anole (aka Carolina Anole)
Anolis carolinensis (see http://www.southalley.com/album_anoles2.html)

Oh I love this posting. Lizard and frog. Brilliant Isabella! When I lived in Cairns, in Queensland I used to have a green tree frog who lived on the shower curtain. Always had to remember to turn the cold tap on first - in any case it was too hot for hot water. I always hoped one day he'd turn into my prince but something went wrong with that story.

Thanks all for your visits!

Denton - I warned you!

Felicia - thanks and sorry you misses my party!

Tony - the green anole was my fist instinct, but I was afraid you'd correct me again ;-)

Jilly - sometimes we find out that a frog is...just a frog ;-)

When my son was a little dude green was his favorite color and he used to cry that he wasn't green like Kermie!

WOW! His color makes my eyes pop out. I'll have to come back to hear Kermit sing...now it's time for bed. :)
