Into the night

photo taken last evening

"Oft did I wonder why the setting sun
Should look upon us with a blushing face:
Is't not for shame of what he hath seen done,
Whilst in our hemisphere he ran his race?"

The sun has set for you, and here on Maui it's still high in the sky! Superb photo...and the poem makes one wonder about the Sun.

Great shot, isabella - beautifully composed.

Perfect! Quite dramatic with the jet trails. I like the verse you chose, also.

This is absolutely gorgeous. It's not a launch of the space shuttle by any chance is it?

That is an amazing photo. What is that light in the sky? A meteor shower?

Since you are in Naples and that is the setting sun, then that must be the sky over the Gulf of Mexico. So the contrails can't be the Spaceshuttle so...
I have a feeling they are from alien spacecraft.

Aiguille molle à chaque tour d'horloge
Soleil étale au long d'une journée
Rayons tressés nattes de mes plaisirs."

La photo est superbe, et je te souhaite un bon weekend

like the every day you us offers a poem, I wanted to offer this very poem of Eluard to you (
the translation is far from being perfect, sorry)

Between the moon and the sun

"I say it to you gracious and luminous
Your nudity licks my eyes of child
And it is the extase happy hunters
to have made grow a transparent game
Which slackens in a vase without water
As a seed in the shade of a stone
I see you naked tied arabesque
soft Aiguille with each turn of clock
Sun spreads out with the one braided Rayons day
length plaits of my pleasures."

The photograph is superb, and I wish you a good weekend

What race ? is the sun running a marathon ? i would like to join too. Yes we have a problem with our race, but the sun has been blushing long before humans came.
And when Isabella takes her camera out the sun would blush more,
'oh! she's taking my pikchar'
When I take my camera out the sun sprints in panic and disappears.
'ooo, I'd rather go and wake up Isabella'

Gorgeous picture. I will not break my lazy head over those streaks. it is something.

Well said and shown. The humanity on the move is something we never see in the planes that criss-cross the sky. You captured the daily events so well.

I came to thank you for visiting my blog, yesterday, and for your comments about Patty's last radiation treatment. She was so pleased that I heard from so many people, including Eric, and I know it made her day extra-special. She was also surprised that some of you also visited her blog and left comments there. So thank you for your visit and comments. Being new to the community, it was a big surprise to us. Thanks again.

The photo is quite lovely, esp with the jet trail The poem reminds me of our country's recent tragedy at VT.

What an amazing photograph. Well done. How did you do it? Whenever I try taking a shot of the sun I lose everything else. Am most impressed but then you are impressive!

Love the poem too.

This is one helluva photo.

Lovely photo and poem. What I know about poetry wouldn't fill a thimble, but that is a great set of lines for the photo.

There are many areas that look like this on our side of Florida too, the tall, scrabbly looking pines towering over the scrub.
