Uptown, downtown #6

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

OK, I'm willing to concede; your city might be bigger and older than mine, with more history and tradition, with more museums and statue studded parks, with more cafes and street markets. But, how many of you have a concierge in the middle of town, huh?

So think of Naples as an upscale hotel - we'll feed you, bed you (easy on the jokes there!) and provide entertainment ...No tipping required ;-)

(In case you ever wondered if we have seasons in Florida, here's a photo of the same place in the depth of Winter!)

Your winter photo is very funny ... I thought the post was about the tree until I read your explanation.

School children would be happy Isabella, they don't have much history to study. Is this the oldest building in Naples ? There is no winter in the other picture as well. Very pleasing light and colour in this picture.

That looks like a really beautiful hotel Isabella! By the way, lets see how good your knowledge of Toruń is...as today we are running a 'guess the object' competition today over at Toruń DP. Be sure to pop by!

It was the tree that first caught my attention. Great shot!

Those poor people in the winter shot. Can't the government DO something to relieve their suffering?
I guess, Global Warming just can't come soon enough.

You have proved that a large metropolis is not necessary for successful blogging. Your photos are always great to see!

I love this area of town! But the Waterside Shops had a redo - and we expect you up at this end of town, Isabella. Maybe a night shot of the fountains?

Your winters must be brutal! It's a wonder you all survive...

That is an interesting photo, however. So odd to see a concierge booth just sitting outside. And that tree is certainly something.

Oh, my gosh! I can't believe I expected something different when I clicked on the winter photo. Seasons, my ample, cold, you-know-what! :) :)

cela fait tres classe d'avoir un concierge au centre ville ;o) (l'hiver est tres dure à Naples si on en croit ta photo, tu as du souffrir de froid ;o) ). j'aime bien ce kiosque.

that made very class have a caretaker in the centre town ;O) (the winter is very hard in Naples if one believes your photograph of it, you have to suffer from cold ;O)). I like this kiosk.

So what does the concierge do? Is this like a tourist office in Europe?

And no tipping? I thought everything involved tipping in America. I was in Greenwich village last year, had a dreadful breakfast in a restaurant there - the wrong food arrived, or didn't or wasn't cooked properly, whatever - you name it -waiter didn't care so we didn't leave one cent tip and the waiter rushed out onto the street after us, screaming abuse and saying that 'It's not like in Europe, we live on our tips.' 'So earn them, I said.'

Great clock in your photo, not to mention such a pretty building and beautiful tree. What is the tree?

Don't I ask a lot of questions?

Isabella, please could you seek treatment for your inferiority complex. You are far too big for Naples. If it's cramping you, just move out. ;-)

P.S. daughter is getting on nicely with shoes, thanks.

I'm amazed at the efficiency of your snow removal people - we could learn a lesson from your town here in RI.

Hi from the chipmunk - Day 3 and I can't open my right eye, Isabella. But I'm just laughing all the way.

Hey Isabella, I just saw your photo blog. I live on the other side of Florida. Palm Bay, right south of Melbourne.

We have some cool looking areas for walking around like in your photo, but no concierge. I'll know we've hit the big-time when we get one.

Great photos! (and pithy commentary too.)

Forgot to mention that I started a daily photo blog with the wholly original title of John's Daily Digital Images if you care to visit. I've put a few photos from my neck of the woods on there. Thanks for visiting my Thursday Thirteen.
