Quiz Tuesday part 20

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Today marks my 20th consecutive Tuesday quiz post! I'm sure I deserve some kind of award! Oh, yeah...your participation is a reward in itself. Honest ;-)

This is Phoebe. She is full grown and pedigree. We met her at the Farmer's Market on Saturday, and while we spoke to her "mom", she was trying to make herself comfortable amidst the peasant loaf, sack of oranges and a bagful of zucchini.

Today's question: which dog breed is Phoebe?

Update: After 25 guesses you are not even lukewarm ;-). So here are some extra clues: Phoebe can sniff out a good cigar, and she might've been great friends with F. Puss...

I bet that she's the same breed as mine today

She's adorable but I can't exactly point her breed. Seems like a poodle mixed with something else, but since you said she's got a pedigree she must not be mixed.
Somekind of terrier maybe?

I think in portuguese we could call a murdes of crows something like "bando de corvos" (bando=group; bunch / corvos=crows)!

Well, since I enlarged my photos the link doesn't seem to fit. Another problem to solve---sigh! PS My dog is just as cute as your dog!!

She looks like a poodle (un caniche, in French) but, of course, it would be too easy!

Deja bravo pour ton 20th quiz du Mardi..bonne idée et bonne continuité...belle photo, il est adorable, je dirais comme Alice : un caniche (mais je n'y connais rien en chien)

Already cheer for your 20th quiz of Tuesday. Good idea and good continuity… beautiful photograph, it is adorable, I would say like Alice: a poodle (but I know nothing in dog there)

We have lots of these dogs here, they are called "furry, black-headed white dogs". It is a pedegree first recorded in the Firth of Fourth (Green Smials Diaries) somewhere near Hobbiton.
This breed is best known as a sly, layabout type who seem to do a lot of good, while actually doing nothing at all. Their owners are always the last to know.
As you can see, this was not difficult at all.

A mother has been Lagotto Romagnolo, white and beauty and father was Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or perhaps conversely :)
Cute one anyway !

You would think that the summer I spent volunteering for the humane society would help me on this one. Unfortunately I can only distinguish between different kinds of mutts :(

But she looks to me like a terrier. Maybe a Highland?

isa said...

Oy, vey ;-)...you people are hopeless! No one is even close...
Here's a hint: Phoebe is trimmed for the summer, normally her hair is long and silky. And I remind you - she is a pedigree!

More clues to come - if needed!

hey i'm really baaaad at this breed thing... maybe she's a... hot dog? I don't know...

Oh! I love this question! I was thinking poodle, but her hair doesn't seem curly enough and I've never seen a poodle with two colors. I'm waiting to find out with baited breath!

I was going to say cockapoo, but if she's a purebred that's not right. Perhaps some sort of water spaniel. I have no idea!

Hello Isabella. What a cute little dog. My immediate reaction was that she is a terrier of some sort. But which exactly, I have no clue! Certainly she is interesting with a white coat and dark head. Never seen anything quite like it!

Victoria said...

Well, if it isn't a terrier, my only other guess would be griffon of some sort.

I'll have what Frank is drinking :)

She has a face similar to a Spoodle's but the ones I've seen were caramel in colour.
Anyway, Spoodle is my guess.

Ok, I'm back because you people obviously need my help. Now that we know it likes cigars, it's a good dog. So it's a furry white...no wait, if it might have been friends with F.Puss, it's a cat dog.
These dogs are known to be able to mock cats without them even knowing. The cat becomes confused and disoriented and eventually wanders away. That's when the dog can lock the door and take over.

Frank - put that drink down...you've had enough ;-)

Ok, you know I'm vulnerable right now, so you had to come up with Hemingway clues :)
In Cuba, Hem's dog was a Springer Spaniel - the one I'm looking at on the web doesn't look like the one in your photo - but I'll try that anyway.

Nikon said...

Havanese? As he reaches for a Valium...............

isa said...

Congratulations Nikon! I knew I could get you to come up with Cuba and then the Havanese would follow. Sorry for the Valium necessitating pressure I've put you under ;-)

For more info on the breed:

Thank you all for playing along...

Nikon said...

Thank you for putting on a Hem question ( well, it turned out that way, anyway :)

Bedlington Terrier?

Well, I'll be damned! LOL I would never have guessed that.
