There goes the neighborhood (4)

Continuing our homes series (please see the previous 3 posts, if you've just arrived).

Pineapple Palm tree, circular drive, and another fairly typical home style. All one level (with cathedral ceilings), but notice that extra room above the garage.

Guest suite...or maid quarters?

If I lived in Naples, I'd probably prefer a guest suite due to all the folks who would want to come and visit!

Love these thread of houses! Beautiful and majestic the Pineapple Palm tree!

I'm guessing it is the maids quarters...maybe they have a little bungalow in back for guests.

Read the comments from yesterday and saw that it would not anymore be allowed to build the different type of house you there illustrated! I'm sorry, but - however beautiful these houses are and although I also understand the need to harmonise - this seems "too much" to me! It's a pity if everything has to look the same and should only be a competition about the size of the swimmingpool or whatever detail!

Looking forward to your own feelings about this!

I agree with Peter on this one. That kind of thing happened in dress in China ages ago and it looks so much better there now.

Housing is what people buy. If they buy one style then that should be what builders build. I am guessing the people don't want something turning up next door that makes their house look like an expensive shanty. So it might just be greed.

Are they trying to simulate a Mediterranean look for the entire community?
I'd say the room is for some kind of servant - I wouldn't put my guests over a garage! Of course, I don't have a garage (or guests)- so it's rather a moot point :)

How do they clean all the rooms in these houses? I guess if you have to ask...

When asked how much his yacht cost, wasn't it J.P.Morgan, who said, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."?

They all sort of look alike to me and they resemble alot of the higher end homes in Dallas. Not that I'm envious or anything.

By the way, not to be dense, but just where IS the garage? That upper window on the far left?

I'd guess that's the guest room. It's (the guest/maid's room) probably the same square footage as my whole house.

Moi - glad to provide you with entertainment;-)

Paul - enlarge the photo. The second window from the right is above the 2 stall garage (see those 2 arches?)

Dear friend, it is a Canary palm or maybe Canary Island Palm; --the one in your picture appears to be the male tree. The female grows dates. Why do you call it "pineapple"?
I think the formal name is Phoenix Canariensis.
They grow like weeds out here in SoCal.
