Not so Sunny Daze
I hope this answers your question: is it always sunny in Naples?
This is the start of our rainy and, what's worse, our hurricane season (June to October). This year, the forecasters have said they expect to be busier than normal. The National Weather Service said it expects 13 to 17 tropical storms, with 7 to 10 of them becoming hurricanes and 3 to 5 of them in the strong category...
We are at the city dock of Naples, watching the clouds roll in...So, in the words of Bette Davis - fasten your seat belts . . . it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

it rained here last evening and never stopped till this afternoon..and I loved it!!!! :)
We get a lot of rain in June through August. And the humidity can be unbearable especially when there is not breeze.
same if there is no sun, the color of the sky is very beautiful.
Today before and after the principal place of Martel.
My blog photographs on the town of Martel
Well, I have heard on the nightly news for a long time that the swamps are dry and that Florida needs a lot of rain to put things right. So yesterday I saw that you were getting some. My son got almost 4 inches at West Palm and I saw on the news that other places got over 5 inches. It might help the drought and out the fires. It is a nice photo too.

At least this hurricane thing makes me a bit less jealous! It's good that you are getting honest again (see George C.) I hope this season will not be too bad. It's getting worse each year?
Hee hee! I'm no longer jealous Isabella!
Maybe more like "haze"? Thanks for the answers to the questions yesterday. Never doubt my ignorance about birds and please feel free to always name the birds that you show, even if you've shown them a thousand times before. Like the anhinga.
and how about the temperature? the sea breeze,is it cold?
I reckon our rain is flying to you ;o) we just finally finished our unexpected rain of this week
Nice photo. It was so hot here yesterday and the humidity was a killer.
Even a rainy day in Naples looks great!
But my little finger tells me you know a lovely place where you can keep out of in bad season...
Moi - apparently Tampa got the brunt of Barry ;-). Naples bearly registered 1 inch of rain in the morning and the sun was back in the afternoon...
Abe - yes we do have a severe draught condition and this latest rain won’t be enough to reverse the effects of an unusually dry season...we need a sustained rain, day after day, to get us back to normal...
Peter - Barry storm developed on the first official day of a hurricane season. The forecasters have said they expect to be busier than normal. The National Weather Service said it expects 13 to 17 tropical storms, with seven to 10 of them becoming hurricanes and three to five of them in the strong category...
Beetle - no, it really does not cool off much - the temps stay around 85-90F (29-32C)
Alice - ;-)
hurricanes or not it looks like fab :-)
Love this photo. When I lived in Cairns in Far North Queensland, I used to find the beginning of the rainy season so exciting and of course exotic. After three or four weeks tho of solid rain and yes, no respite from the heat, I just wanted to crawl into a refrigerator and close the door behind me. (yeah I know it's called air-conditioning but I didn't have it in my little wooden house). I adore your climate, as it's so stimulating and exciting, but it can be hard at times.
Hi Isabella,
It looks nice anyway. Be carefull with the hurricanes. I am sure you know how to manage it though...
The Dock and the the yachts look great... As far as hurricanes are concerned, it's time for you to move to south Portugal: roughly same weather, same sun, no hurricanes, at least for the time being...
But beware; global warming is changing the world. Any doubts? Have a look at the snow storm I caught two years ago in Istanbul...
I hope you'll get no hurricanes there
I'm glad you got some rain at least.
I hope that the hurricane experts are as accurate as last year :)
Isabella, are you really going to stay throughout the summer? Most people who spend winter in Florida go somewhere else in summer. I'd be surprised if you didn't do the same.
Hint from Alice?
Oh no... This is the start of hurricane season, hope I don't get to see devastating hurrican pictures of Naples anytime soon.
