Body and Soul

Here are some more pastels that scream Olde Florida to me...

This cozy corner, right on the historic Fifth Avenue South, in the heart of old Naples, is shared by two very different establishments - Shaw Gallery of Fine Arts and Quiet Storm Surf Shop.

Hence the title. To each his own ;-)

Update: Prompted by Olivier's question, I found a link to Ella Fitzgerald 1965 version of the classic song "Body and Soul". Enjoy!

I have to ask, is this the reqion where pink flamingo garden ornaments were popularized?

Congrats on the 200th post milestone!

Hi Isabella! Here I am yet once again after an absence. Sorry.

This is a lovely pastel scene. Love it.

I guess in Florida, a quiet storm is a welcome reprieve during hurricane season?

c'est une belle photo, les couleurs sont superbes. et rien de mieux que de melanger le corps avec l'esprit.
"body and soul" c'est pas une chanson de jazz ? je cherche, cela me dit quelque-chose mais je n'arrive pas a trouver

it is a beautiful photograph, the colors are superb. and nothing better than to mix the body with the spirit. “body and soul” it is not a song of jazz? I seek, that tells me some-thing but I do not arrive has to find

Flowers outside and inside! These colours seem to go so well with your (mostly) sunny environment! So it means "old Florida"? What are the colours of "new Florida"?

Nice photos with the paintings in the store.

While you're screaming "Olde Florida", I'll be at the beach, quietly looking at the pastel colored bathing suits :-)

z - that would be the "other" coast of Florida (Miami) - we are so much more refined here ;-)

Pat - nice to see you again!

Olivier - you are right, as usual. I found this link to Ella Fitzgerald 1965 version of the classic song "Body and Soul" (check out the update to the post).

Peter - the "modern" Florida, at least in the Southwest Region, leans towards the Mediterranean colors - those of Provence and Riviera (ochre, rust, yellow, orange).

That is a nice shot and more Florida pastels works for me but I have problems with the humidity.

Naples needs some khaki, just for light relief.

Merci beaucoup pour cette video, cela me rassure, je n'ai pas perdu completement la memoire. Cette chanson est superbe

the windows on grandma/s house in st. pete used to be a shade lighter blue than that awning. i remember one year when we were going to repaint them that the paint color had been discontinued.

Congratulations on your 200th; I arrive always a bit late...
The colours are great as always, and the sun seems to be always shining, even during the hurricane season. This way we've no chance of seeing you moving to a hurricane free territory... (at least for the time being, cross your fingers)! :))

Very pretty. I've lived in Florida ten years, but I still love the pastel colors. Lot's of folks turn their noses up at them as overdone, but I still like them.

Love the potted bougainvillea there.
