Xanadu III
Friday, we took a boat trip to my private beach on Big Hickory Island.
We are almost there! Can you smell the ocean? Can you hear the gentle waves lapping at the shore?
We crossed the island via these pathways, which meander past the beach pavilion (restaurant, sundeck and facilities).
Just pick one of those green umbrellas and settle down - we are going shelling and swimming next!

There must be quite a few of us since there are so many umbrellas. It's a great setting, and I think resting awhile is a wonderful idea!
The island looks great - are there any big hickorys on it? (I don't know if I'd know what one looks like!)
I love shelling...we don't have that opportunity over hereon Maui!
Crossing that bridge yesterday was magical enough but goodness, isn't this just wonderful. One magical place you've brought us too, lovely lady.
I'll have the last umbrella on the right, please.
It's good to see your blue sky, here it's raining again and again...Please, Isabella, could you tell me what are hickorys?
Is it too late buy a share of "your" island?
Nice photo. I like the umbrellas all lined up.
Today I've posted different Amish buggy's. Take the 320 question quiz to see how much you know about the Amish.
I love the ocean and have often wished I lived near a beach-my idea of heaven.
wow...what a view. Pretty nice island.
thank you for the lovely time on the beach!
Ah yes, I can smell the ocean. Oh wait, that was the person in front of me, I think they need a bath.
I'll take the green umbrella!
what a view....love the blue ....sky blue and the ocean blue .... wonderful!
Nikon and Alice - hickory tree is a southern hardwood tree with big nuts ;-)
Question: which general from the war of 1812 was nicknamed "Old Hickory"?
Isabella, (thanks to Wikipedia) it was Andrew Jackson, 7th Prez of the US.
Hardwood with big nuts - I think it must be the sun :)
I hope that Frank stays at his end of the beach :)
