Quiz Tuesday part 28

We are still on my private beach - lying belly up, periodically re-applying the suntan oil, making occasional trips to the Pavilion bar...

Amongst the sea (!) of green umbrellas, we notice this lonely blue one, part of a small seating arrangement.

Today's question: what purpose does this isolated spot serve?

for smokers?

Hmmmmm, okay. This is a picnic table. Maybe green umbrellas are for lounging, and blue umbrellas are for eating! But there is only one. So, maybe only a few people can eat at one time!

I agree with carol; it's an area for smokers because to the right of the table, it looks like there's a place for butts to be extinguished before the smokers remove their butts.

I have no idea. A place for smoking sounds as good as any.

I'll say smoking, too.

What a shame...but I agree with them. Such a beautiful place and they need a cigarette.

belle photo, avec un ciel de reve. je ne pourrais faire aucune proposition aujourd'hui car j'avoue ne pas bien traduire (où comprendre) ta question

beautiful photograph, with a sky of dream. I could not make any proposal today because I acknowledge not well not to translate (where to understand) your question

I noticed that blue umbrella right away. Nice shot.

Still on your island! I can very well understand why!

Actually I spotted the blue umbrella already on your photo the other day, but did not comment about the "exception". It's not a special table for George?

As I'm still, stupdily enough, am a smoker, I would appreciate a small corner left for this purpose, but I suspect that there is rather a small bar or icecream place?

Goodness, if that strangely shaped object to the right is for cigarette butts, how many smokers are there on this island?

My suggestions:

1. It's the area where a life-guard hangs out.

2. It's where you hand in a ticket or proof that you have the right to use this beach.

3. It's where someone sits and collects the tickets for the boat back to the mainland.

4. Maybe that strange object to the right isn't for cigarette butts but is some sort of oxygen cylinder for folk who might need it.

Am I allowed 4 attempts?

I suspect the key to this is probably on the sign that you have conveniently chopped off, dear Isabella.

Meanwhile, what a beautiful beach. Do you call the area in front of the beach a dune in America?

It's a place for those who hate green things - polluters, anti-environmentalists, hairspray users, people being punished and made to stand in the corner, government workers and other general riff raff.
What do I win?

Jilly centered the point: it's a life-guard place !

gotta go with smoking....but that doesn't seem right because your tests are never as easy as they appear.....

I confess I don't know -- but this glimpse of paradise melts my heart!

Keep out the nude sun bathers??

I enjoyed your time at the beach! Well, I think Jilly covered it all, but I think it is a lifeguard "tower".

Isabella,
I was not joking with the crowds. Only with the clouds...
One day at Noronha (Conceiçao Beach Bar) the three of us were the only clients and there was nobody else on the beach. We commented it with the waiter and he said: Oh, that's now; in the morning, it was crowded! Next morning we came back; the crowd was 9 (nine) persons in the whole beach. That's Noronha's standard...

I don't think it would be for the lifeguard since it is back from the beach -

I have no idea, Isabella. But really this place is wonderful!

Congratulations to most of you who, starting with Carol, correctly identified it as a designated smoking area!

Chris & Deb - you give me too much credit ;-) The quizzes ceased to be challenging ions ago - or haven't you noticed?

Thanks all for playing along, or as the French say: merci de votre fidélité...

Isabella, is this a law in America - even outdoors there has to be designated smoking areas? I've never heard of such a thing - in fresh air, after all.

In Italy now, smoking is banned in restaurants and bars but you can smoke anywhere outside the place - that seems to be the rules in Europe. Soon to be in France I believe. I don't smoke so haven't really been aware of all this. Just amazes me there should be a table and umbrella for smokers!

Anyway, yet another great quiz.
