Quiz Tuesday part 26 and a Bicentpostal!

Yes, it is Quiz Tuesday, but it is also my 200th post!

No muss, no fuss, no fanfare...but I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Eric and his brainchild, DP, and thank you all for your many visits and comments on Naples Daily Photo.

Being a part of the DP community allowed me to travel around the globe and meet some wonderfully quirky people! It attracted (very flattering) attention from some magazines and newspapers. It sharpened my vision and awareness of my surroundings and as such, deepened my appreciation for it...And for that I am grateful.

Now, back to our regular programming ;-)
This impressive tableau was featured at the Coconut Point Art Festival, right alongside this one.

Today's question: which city is depicted in this artwork? And for some extra points: why aren't I there?!

Nikon said...

I have to say Venice, too - although I think it might be too obvious,
Congratulations on 200 & a bazillion can't be too far away?
I think (I don't mean to criticize) that Al could have been at least mentioned :)

Nikon said...

Oh, the bonus round - you're not in Venice because you have to work?

Unknown said...

Venice for sure, as Nikon said it easy.
As my english is not so good, I have believed that this tableau was engraved on a coconut D-)Congratulations for your 200 posts !

If it's not Venice, you are somehow trying to cheat us!

So, no fuss or fanfares, but anyhow: Congratulations!

(I clicked on the "alongside this one". I guess I have seen that picture before and I really like to see it in the comments on my blog.)

Venice is the only city that I can think of where they have gonolas like this.
Very pretty relief.

I think, it`s Rome! They are playing in some piazza these ( Piazza Navona?? I have no time to check it from Google :) after putting water on it.
Is it then the church of saint Peter`s Basilica.
Perhaps???

Thanks for all your visits my blog,
nice time to you!

I forgot your 200th post! Congratulations! You blog is always so cheerful to visit, thank you!

200 posts? Bravo, bravo! "Venice of course", would I say, but knowing you, who like so much teasing your poor visitors, I add "Venice? Certainly not!" Las Vegas, maybe? And you are not there because you,ve already spent all your dollars in these expensive shops you often show us in Naples and you can't gamble a single buck!

Anonymous said...

It seems to me that Las Vegas did a 'venice' too but this looks real. Also, congratulations on 200 times at bat without striking out.

FELICITATION pour ton 200th post, et merci de nous faire visiter ton petit coin de paradis (si on enleve les alligators ;o) )

Je dirais venise, mais cela ne doit pas etre le cas. alors j'essaye Naples (mais en Italie)

CONGRATULATION for your 200th post, and thanks for making us visit your small corner of paradise (if the alligators are removed ;O)) I would say Venice, but that should not be the case. then I test Naples (but in Italy)

Congrats on your 200th post. Nice photo. Such wonderful detail.

Peoria?

Congratulations on your 200th, hope you're here for many more!

Congratulations on your 200th post. My guess is Venice and the reason you are not there is you missed the airline flight on your planned vacation.

JaamZIN said...

the first part is easy:) its Venice!
And you are not there because it doesnt make any sense to move from one heaven (Florida) to an other (Venice):)

Janet said...

Congratulations on your 200th post! Visiting Naples Daily Photo is like opening the door to Heaven!

Lori said...

It certainly looks like Venice to me, and I wish I were there. Congratulations on your 200th post! You always have such beautiful photos and witty things to say!

Mandy said...

could it be Naples, Italy?

Fabrizio Zanelli said...

Well 200th !!!! Brava, Brava e Brava !!!!

Sì è Venezia... even with some free imagination by author. BTW you're in right. It's impressive !

200 posts! Many congratulations to the lovely Isabella! I love your blog, love your posts. You are so original, always interesting, take beatiful photographs and you are funny - AND you are my soul sister!

Well, it's a funny sort of Venice. If that's the duomo on the right, it seems to be in the wrong place? Knowing Isabella, I don't think a simple answer 'Venice' can be right - but doubtless, we'll find out. Perhaps I doth protest too much.

And why isn't she there? Well if it is Venice, she should be. Venice has to be the most beautiful city in the world, ever ever ever in my book.
Oh I give up. Tell us, tell us...

Isabella, I don't get to visit my favorite blogs as often as I used to. :(
Congrats on the achievement-you have brought a breath of fresh air and most of all wonderful wit and humor to this community!
You are a treasure and your photos are fantastic!!

Well I suppose everything has been said. "Streets full of water, please advise". However I have to say that apart from the water not much seems Venetian. Looks more Roman or Florentine. Why are you not there? Well cos you're in Naples I guess

JAM said...

Really nice picture of a beautiful piece of art. If I were a guessing man, I'd guess it was Naples, Italy.

Peter said...

Looking again. Of course my first reaction is still Venice, but I repeat, it would be too easy. If it's Venice, the colour of the dome is not correct, it should not be red. It's not the dome of St.Peter's, not the one of Florence, or it's not well copied. I have never been to Naples (nor Italy, nor Florida)... ??

Why you are not there? I guess because it's some place which is flooded (and which finally is not Venice) and you don't want wet feet.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my site about my dog - I do appreciate it. Bruce the cat has been sleeping round the clock today so I don't know that he even notices her absence :)

Congrats on your 200th post - I visit often even if I don't leave a comment.

Nikon said...

Thanks for the visit - you don't have to guess the street name ( & I don't know it anyway :)
I'm gonna' change my guess to Naples, Italy. I've never seen a waterfornt scene like this from Naples, but there are NO LIONS in the architecture - Venice's symbol.
And you are not in Naples because you are in Naples - LOL.
If it's Peoria.........:)

Nikon said...

Me again....you said (in italics, no less!) that it is a tableau - a french word, so it's really Paris in 1925.

isa said...

OK, are you ready to laugh? I DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER!!! I was hoping you would tell me ;-)

When I took this photo (it was untitled), the artist chastised me (apparently it's a no-no) so I felt it was not a good time to ask questions. Besides, I thought it was Venice...

So I think it's only fair to declare each one of you a winner and suggest that the photo represents all of our dream cities - places we would love to live in, if we could...(yes, even Paris in 1925, for Nikon ;-))

And finally, thank you for visiting, your kind comments and for playing along...

How sweet! You can visit my loft anytime - if Hem is writing, I'll meet you at the Dome.

Didn't Chris show gondolas in Minneapolis?

I'm so sorry George and I didn't make it to the balcony last week, but seeing your gondola relief reminded me that the reason was we got sidetracked on a canal, I do apologize.

Congrats on your 200th, dear Isabella! You are a hoot and a half, and you have hootzpah to spare. And mighty fine photos!

Give my regards to Al.

I can't believe I missed the big 2-0-0! Congrats
A: Venice?
A very nice piece of art, by the way.

You'll have to do something grand for the big 238th!

Fabrizio Zanelli said...

Ehm... As italian let me say that there isn't any other place in the whole world where they use gondolas arounded by that kind of building except Venice even if in a free interpretation. A last note: in Venice there isn't any Duomo but a Basilica.

Gerald (Ackworth born) said...

dear me, so it is a figment of the artist's imagination

you are a devious minx!
