He's baaack...

From the frequent references to Al in your comments, I surmise that you miss the little tyke...So here he is, only about 5 feet from where I'm standing!

And here are some Alligator Facts:

- The alligator became the official state reptile of Florida in 1987.

- Spanish sailors visiting the New World thought the unfamiliar alligator was a huge lizard. In Spanish, el lagarto means the lizard. English sailors took the name as allagarter and in time it has become alligator.

- Alligators are hunted mostly for their skins, but also they are hunted for meat. Today, there is a multi-million dollar industry in which alligators are raised in captivity for the production of meat and skin.

Anybody for some grilled alligator sausage with horseradish and creole mustard?

Sounds like some good eating to me. There's a restaurant near here famous for alligator dishes.

Ever have any? Does it taste like anything we'd be familiar with?

I think I'll pass on both the very alive alligator and the gourmet delicacy you've offered.

Nice swimming-pool...

I understand why swimming pools are needed around your place!

Eating, why not? Never tried, but always curious to try what I have not tried. Would you recommend it?

I understand why the alligator is your state reptile. You probably see them all the time.

....and we missed him, so a warm welcome back. Guess he liked the recent rain.

Such a beautiful photograph. The sharpness (no pun intended) of the alligator and those beautiful tree reflections, the colours. Just wonderful.

He is definitely looking at you, it's either love or he's hungry...

Nice shot. I wonder if he is looking for something to eat or looking for a mate? Do you know or can you tell?

I thing i couldn't eat aligator. But of course i'll prefer to eat him instead to be eaten from him. :)
Have a nice weekend.

I guess he gets plenty to eat if he stays around. We get them almost every year in the retention ponds where I work, and the company will send out emails about staying away from the alligators and to not feed them. They're still fascinating.

I've never eaten any.

I have had some gator nuggets in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I would like to say they taste like chicken but I don't remember.
