"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." -- Jawaharlal Nehru
I have recently discovered Khalil Gibran and am in love with his parables....here's one of my favorites....I think i have shared this one with you earlier too..but just in case i did not ....it's titled "Garments" from his book, "The Wanderer"...
Upon a day Beauty and Ugliness met on the shore of a sea. And they said to one another, "Let us bathe in the sea." Then they disrobed and swam in the waters. And after a while Ugliness came back to shore and garmented himself with the garments of Beauty and walked away. And Beauty too came out of the sea, and found not her raiment, and she was too shy to be naked, therefore she dressed herself with the raiment of Ugliness. And Beauty walked her way.
And to this very day men and women mistake the one for the other. Yet some there are who have beheld the face of Beauty, and they know her notwithstanding her garments. And some there be who know the face of Ugliness, and the cloth conceals him not from their eyes.
Is that an orchid tree? It looks similar although I thought they were a pinky/purple. And what are the pods/beans? That's confusing me. Leaf looks like an orchid tree or perhaps even ginko. Love to know.
Sunflowers really do turn their faces to the sun, following it throughout the day. A field of sunflowers is a beautiful sight, and so is this single white beauty.
Your Bauhinia variegata forma alba is beautiful. Around here we call it the white orchid tree. The flower is just opening and will flatten a little more. Some times the tree will turn white with flowers. In the middle of the state they almost always bloom after the leaves fall. With all the seed pods, this flower is a straggler. Notice the leaf, it looks like two leaves placed together. All Bauhinia species have that double look. And the brothers Bauhin where twins and botanist.
For some reason this photo won't load for me Isabella, whereas there's no problem with the others.
I really enjoyed reading the 8 facts about you a few days back... makes us want to know more. How you were born on a beach, why the Germans thought you were a spy?
Naples, on the Gulf Coast of Florida - the only subtropical area in the contiguous United States.
Year-round sunshine, white sandy beaches, championship golf courses (and the most millionaires per square mile in the world!).
So come, take a dip, the water's temperature is a constant 74°F. But please, DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS!!!

A beautiful shot of a beautiful flower.
As for the elephants, now you know why none of them are ever chosen for the basketball squad!
"Elephants are the only animals that can't jump."
No, sorry that's not correct. Earthworms and starfish, for example, are both animals, and neither can jump.
Elephants are the only MAMMALS that can't jump, but not the only animals that can't.
I love the photo, Isabella, is that a Naple's shot or Michigan?

By the way, lovely shot, Isabella :)

Love the photo.
I guess elephants are too heavy to jump.
No need for elephants to jump; when they stand on their back legs they reach probably higher than any other animal... sorry, mammal!
Is a tortoise a mammal or a reptile? - whatever I bet he can't jump either - well maybe very slowly.
Anyway, I believe your info is wrong
