On Heron Pond

“When despair for the world grows in me, and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be -- I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought or grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
~ Wendell Berry

Isabella, That is one of my favorite poems; I love it and always tear a little bit when I read it! Love the man, Donald Hall, Jane Kenyon, Mary Oliver, James Wright, Neruda...I could go on and on! i love poetry and photography almost equally. I also love your photo today.

Thanks for popping in to rabaul today - I'm so excited my Mum has been able to share all this with me.

Great shot, Isabella, and the poetry is very good, too.
Is this a Naples shot or Michigan?

Through your blog I'm meeting so many wonderful writers, Isabella. Thankyou for that. These words are just beautiful and the photo - well I find that exceptional. Perfect peace.

And welcome back to Florida!

Yes, the peaceful life..., however often cruel also for apparently peaceful birds. In the meantime, let's just enjoy your beautiful photo and text!
