Day 5 and a quiz

For the past 2 weeks we hosted our good friends from Germany. We knew that they were both athletic and adventurous, but they totally wore us out!!! For the next few days I will show you just some of the things we did on their vacations!

I will end this series with our weekend escapade to Key West. What can I say about the Conch Republic besides its being the southernmost city in the continental United States?
It assaults all of your senses: it is funky and sexy and oh, so tropical...For more, visit here .

I will combine this post with the old perennial favorite (!) - Quiz Tuesday# 41. Today's question: Can you guess where this photo was taken?

Here are some clues: 1. yes, we are still in Key West, and 2. some of those cats are polydactyl...

You obviously have some very energetic guests! Hard to keep up with them, I reckon.
Where was the pic taken... from a charming balcony, but where, I have no idea!

I know!! I know!! Oh, what did I win?
It's Hem's house (where he moved after he left Hadley & Paris).
I love the shot of the yard - great.

It's a home for cats that have 6 toes per foot.

Well...I never....
I haven't heard of polydactyl cats before AND that Hemingway was a polydactyl lover AND has a home for them!
It's wonderfully eccentric.

At first, I didn't think you were in Florida, because there are roses on the table - I didn't think roses would survive in Florida.

Captain Bastard?
Yeah, I think I know him!

I would of course also have guessed Hemmingway as I know that you would not make the question too difficult. But obvioulsy it's too late to propose something; nikon already won!

Yes, Nikon wins the prizes. But it is a nice photo and a reminder of a place we never visited.

Always a parodox to me - the great hunter was an animal lover.
He collected stray cats & dogs when he lived in Cuba, too.

My dream - to visit Key West - and I know everyone goes to visit Hemingway's place but I so want to do that too. I'll go along with everyone else on the answer. Lovely post. I presume whoever looks after Hemingway's house/museum provides the flowers.

I left a response on Menton DP, Isabella, but no, I've not heard of fruit falling off the floats onto people. I did read the moveable floats are covered in wire to prevent people stealing the fruit but I didn't see any fine wire at the parade.

You can pick 'em off the trees in Menton, so no one would both off a float and anyway they are a bit squashed with the rubber bands. Also they are Spanish and the Menton fruit is 'apparently' better!

Ah, a day late and a dollar short--story of my life. Of course, Nikon is correct, and when I saw the photo and your commentary, I was going to urge you to send an email to him. He's ready on the mark, tho. (Do you like all my cliches??)

PS. I hope that you took lots of photos to send to Nikon; he'd love it!!

Congratulations Nikon! But I would expect nothing less from you ;-)
Of course I thought of you while touring Hem's house and did take lots of photos, but the link provided in my next post duplicates them all...

Thanks all for playing along!
