Quiz Tuesday part 35

This is a fairly new beach house downtown Naples (and it's for sale, too ;-))

Today's question: what is unusual about its architecture?

Mmmm I'm afraid I probably can't afford it... Any seaviews ? If not, I 'm not interested anyway ;-)))

Thanks for your kind comments on my blog Isabella. I am always very grateful for your visits.

It ya does not have an opening in bottom

It's built to be prepared for some big waves from the sea! ... and the sea is just in front?

elevated house...

The basement is on the ground floor just like it would be in New Orleans and for the same reason. A grand stairwell is missing, but I guess that's on the back side. The Palladian windows seem strange in such a house. Anything else?

Oh wow. Lovely house. Are homes there being foreclosed on? Lots of them up here are and the numbers have doubled and tripled just recently. People can't make the payments now.

I just began a new site about Japan in the early 1950s when we were there. You can get to it from my Brookville daily photo blog. Times have changed a lot there too over the 50-plus years since we were there.

It looks a bit like a chapel on stilts - I expect the downstairs is prepared for the accasional flood.

It doesn't seem to have a front door!
Surely those French windows aren't the front door? How do they lock up?

I find this a rather confusing mix of styles actually. What's with the arched window above the French window? Looks crazy to my eye. And what are those lower lattice thingies?

I like the trees... ;) Well, truth is I don't mind the house but it's just peculiar.

Look forward to hearing the answer.

The entrance as well as guest quarters are on the first level. If, when you wake up in the morning, the guests are still there, you cook breakfast. If not, well, you visit someone else's blog and invite them over.

I'm almost afraid to ask how much it's for sale for, knowing how much places go for down there.

Very charming house! I guess the basement was built for boats...

It looks like it's made of wood, as opposed to the "stucco" of so many houses in Naples.

Hmmmmm, looks like the French doors open into a carport or something because of the latticework.

What is the prize this time? Nothing to do with alligators again (I hope)!

Surely there are stairs somewhere behind all the lattice and the French doors!

I would guess that it is elevated as well. Sort of strange looking but I like the balconies. That large window over the door make it all confusing.

That sure is a pretty place. Wow, I'd love to live in that house.

It would just hurt my feelings to know how much it's being sold for though.

the most unusual aspect is, the occupants are very kind people
they say 'welcome burglers'

Well, I guess there's nothing left for me to say - you figured it all out...
Because of its proximity to the ocean, it is built on stilts to allow for some occasional big waves.
To those of you who wanted to know the selling price: if you have to ask, you can't afford it ;-) (and I can't either!)
