GQ

Village on Venetian Bay, Naples

Since I've already touched on the subjects of shopping and fashion for the ladies, in the name of gender equality, I dedicate this post to my male visitors.

According to the latest fashion magazines for men, these days belts are optional when wearing a suit. In fact, many say you should always forgo the belt when wearing a modern two-button suit. If you decide to wear a belt, make sure it is leather and matches your shoes. The buckle should be the same color metal as your cufflinks and watch, either silver or gold.

So there. I've done my good deed for the day. Just don't blame me when you lose your pants - I'm just the messenger here ;-)

It always creates a problem for me whether to wear the gold or silver watch, I guess I need a two-tone Rolex :)

Poor men, what lot they do to impress a gorgeous girl like you Izzidee.

Frankly, belts are for labourers to keep their work trousers up. A gentleman will always wear braces (suspenders for US latecomers). A female friend I know recently paid 8000 CHF for a belt (7000$ ?) but of course it doesn't hold anything up

Wow, $7000 for belts! Does she have a sister?

Don't you love fashion advice in magazines?! Far better to do what YOU want and be original!

Nice looking shopping centre. How is it a 'village' Isabella? Doesn't look much like my village;)

Nikon - maybe Richard's lady friend can spring for that Rolex :-)

Jilly - I've added a link to the post showing the Village. It is a commercial area, right on the water. Nice place to window shop and then lunch at the (French) Marie-Michelle's...

Thank goodness my man hates shopping malls and prefers the farmers' co-op or the Shepler's and Cabela's catalogs!

Thank you, Izzy, for helping me to hold up my end of things. I do not think, however, that both genders are equal. They have certain differences you just can't escape from...

I don't generally find belts very comfortable - much prefer a pair braces even if I'm a wearing a tee-shirt [fine chance this summer!!]

There's only one man I know who dresses beautifully. He turns heads when he walks by, that's for sure.

Fortunately, I have a get out of jail free card, otherwise the fashion police would be all over me.

Too late but I have to comment....they're wrong, and on slippery slope to being rediculous.....a belt finishes the line....the rest is ok. The Rolex must be simple steel case, no jewelry or decoration. If you've no belt, then you MUST wear braces.

The most important thing....remove socks and shirt in the right order, always starting with the socks.

Never thought that there are men who would have trouble deciding which belt or watch to wear, but then you learn something new everyday, thanks to dailyphoto blogs!!!

I guess in a place like this, these aren't "men's clothing stores" they're haberdasheries. Or however you spell it. I heard that word on TV once.

$7000 for a belt? Holy cow, I felt guilty when I paid $2000 for a camera and a couple of lenses last year.

Next time I'm in WalMart buying clothes, I'll have to check the belt racks, but I don't thing ANY of their "top grain" leather belts cost $7K.
