Quiz Tuesday part 32

These are called "attached villas" in my community.

No, it's not an observation test (how many differences can you spot...), but I will test your powers of deduction.

Today's question: why is the landscaping so vastly diverse in front of the 2 villas?

Because the landscape was planned taking into consideration the amount of light that the plants and foilage would get on a daily basis. Each villa has a different pattern from the other, requiring different landscaping. OR as an alternative, the second one has an animal that pees all over the plants, killing anything other than potted plants. (How am I doing??)

yay!! the quiz is not dead!!! i know for one thing the second owners don't give a hoot about flowers !!

Well, the second one has a brick patio, and the first one has a dirt bed. So the second is better suited for potted plants, and the first works best with plants in the ground.

dans le jeux des sept erreurs, je vois les palmiers, les fleurs, et la maisonnette derrière (avec le petit muret sur la gauche)

in the plays of the seven errors, I see the palm trees, the flowers, and the small house behind (with the small low wall on the left)

I could imagine two answers:
- One villa owner is much more a flower friend than the other.
- A question of sun and shadow? There seems to be more shadow on the second one (and the window stores are more open). Not the same side of the street?

(Maybe you took one of the photos earlier or later during the day, so then this second solution can be forgotten.)

Perhaps one is lived in all year round and the other is a holiday home. Hence the necessity or not for watering, garden maintenance?

Otherwise, I'd guess they are exactly the same house with photographs taken years apart and after changes to the garden!

I am with Kate on this. Light and shade determines what goes where or does here. I assume it is that way there too.

Also, we got a lot of your humidity up here and it is something we didn't bargain for when we moved in back in 1962. Not to mention the scorching 95 degree heat. And a drought that is three months long.

I think these conditions belong in Florida all except the drought.

It is oppressive here.

Nice photographs.

I published some computer generated art on my blog today. Brookville Daily Photo

Your quizzes are easy, so here goes.
In the first villa lives an alchoholic - it is well known that all alchoholics have red noses.
The second is a museum - that's why the front is so boring, like a warning, "Don't come in, there's nothing worth seeing inside."
What do I win?

Because these are too different villas? :)

And thank you for visiting my blog. Even I would rather share our rains with some other place, but - alas! - it seems to be my fate to endure such a weather all along!

These are the cutest cutest things! To answer your question, maybe b/c the second has paving under the windows?

I'm going to flunk the Florida Mensa test by saying that they are the same villa - shown from the front & the back.
One side is facing the street & that has the flowers to make a better impression.

Hmmm, but that doesn't explain the sun angle............

Different tastes for different owners?

No answer yet! I will be back tomorrow!

In the meantime, an answer to your question on my blog today: Yes, of course I walked the short distance, some two miles. If you didn't, of course you missed all the green areas! (Welcome back for a new try!)

Stop playing with those alligators, Isabella! What's the answer?

I agree with what someone else said. They both probably took into consideration the amount of light coming in. I love them both. They both have a wonderful feel to them.

I think one is a rental or a time share type place filled periodically with people who don't want to bother with plants.

I'm in agreement with the ideas put forth by Jilly and Linda, that it has to do with the time and effort that the owners are willing to spend. You had mentioned that most people with such homes don't stay in Naples year round anyway, so I assume they're not there now, and would have to hire people to look after their gardens.

Regarding the Villigen honey -- I have a huge jar of not-Villigen honey that I'm working on; that's why I haven't bought any of the Villigen offerings.

Love the both "attached villas"! The pastel colors are beautiful!

Maybe because there is a big and luxurious tree in front of one...

How long do we have to wait for the answer?

Hold your horses! Here I come!

Jilly, ma petite, you are right again (followed by Linda and Z) - the first one has a year-round occupants, the second one is just a holiday cabin ;-) Bravo for figuring it out!

As for the rest of you...Peeing pets? Alcoholics? Is this beastly heat getting to all you people? ;-)

As always, thanks for playing along...

Peter said...

Peeing pets, alcoholics...thanks! It's definitely not the beastly heat here!

I'm a bit late coming here this week but am so pleased that for once I got the right answer to your quiz. As I scrolled down the comments I wondered but then Jilly piped in and I said yeah absolutely but had to wait for Linda and Z before someone else agreed and then lo and behold izzie you tell us it's true.
