Metamorphosis

"The woods are lovely,
dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

Robert Frost

Many of you expressed dismay at how empty the pools are in my community. Well, this shows more of the same - our private beach at Hickory Island is deserted as well.

No, it's not for the hot weather (there are nice breezes coming off the Gulf of Mexico), or the mosquitoes (naturally controlled in our area) that most of Naples empties out for the summer .

The reason is quite simple - about 70% of the homes in my community are vacation homes, used only for a few months a year. Now it's time to make the trek back north, to our family, friends, work, school...

I've been already spending more time in Michigan than in Naples lately. There are also time-consuming personal commitments to fulfill. I will continue posting on NDP when time allows, but it will not be every day. I hope you'll visit, whenever you think of me and miss the Florida sunshine ;-). I know I will miss you!

I 'll catch you in Michigan...I would assume Naples is empty all summer due to the heat...and fills up in the winter....you do the reverse!

I hope you will post often on your Michigan site, too. Daily bloggers will be bereft at your absence!!

So do you have a Michigan site? I will miss Naples! But sometimes life gets hectic!

How that you free this paradise and you will leave us orphan your photographs, of your quizz and your poems. I propose a general strike. I wish you a good return and awaits your passages impatiently. So long miss isabella and a kiss of Evry.

This is a beautiful photograph and a marvellous poem.

I'll be visiting Michigan regularly but will check up on Naples too! Just so long as we know you are at one or the other, Miz lovely Isabella.

PS, Left a response for you on Menton DP re walking the dog.

I had wondered about your mention of Michigan and your blog there. So, have you been to Columbus IN? Since it's not so far (by US standards!), you should check it out sometime.

Are you one of those who travels back and forth between Michigan and Florida, usually with Michigan license plates, that flys way faster than the fastest speeding cars can possibly go on Interstate 75?

I have seen you flying through Vandalia, Ohio where the large Air Show is this weekend.

I have seen you flying through Cincinnati, Ohio where only those who know they are immortal dare to travel on I-75.

One of my daughters just returned from Florida and digging in the Peace River.

Have a nice vacation. Leave some copper at Copper Harbor.

Nice time in Michigan to you!
I will write about my journey to Prague 1982 and interesting happenings, which I got myself there. I was young and foolish and Finn.
See you :)

Isn't Robert Frost the greatest? In Provence about 70% of the homes are closed all year except for August. I was just in the grocery store and it was packed-a sign that everything is filling up and opening.

I will continue to catch you in Naples or Michigan :)

So, now that I left a reverence for you in Provence, you moved to Michigan. I was there two months ago: too early...
Take your time and enjoy. Happy those who have vacations...

Izzy, may I be Frank? Today it is 95° and humid in Naples, while in Michigan it is a sunny, dry 80°.
Frankly speaking, do you think it is fair for you to go there?

Metamorphosis: Gregor Samsa on the way... You will miss us, but we are already missing you! Left an answer to your Isle sur la Sorgue query on my last post! Have a great time!

lOVE THE clouds here.
i don't think these are the woods Frost imagined when he composed that poem. If he had happened upon this beach, I'm sure he could have spared a few minutes.

It's been great reading your blog...I wish you the best over the next ten weeks, Cheers!

I envy your ability to split up the year between the north and south. I wish I could spend the summers in Ohio (where I grew up). I miss them so much.

Thank you Isabella. A most wonderful post. As a part time resident of beautiful Naples, I agree fully. At the moment I am in New York, for family reasons, but I am counting the days to my return to Naples, wich should be by mid October. If I could have my way, I would stay in Naples yearound, because even in the summer, I would prefer the breeze of the gulf, to the hot and sticky weather of New York, and I like New York, I have lived here for many years.Greetings,
Tony

Thak you all for your kind remarks!
I love the French expression: Merci de votre fidélité! - it applies here...

Tony - thanks for taking the time to write a comment. Now I know that I won't be the only one missing those Florida sunsets ;-)
Until October, then...
