The colors of Naples - 5

The Village on Venetian Bay, Naples

If you've been to Paris, you are undoubtedly familiar with the stereotypical French mademoiselle - very thin, dressed in black, cell phone in one hand and cigarette in the other.

This is the Florida's version - more rounded, wearing bold colors, with latte instead of cigarette, but with the ubiquitous cell phone ;-)

(BTW - did you notice the bead store motto: "Don't worry. Bead Happy"? )

I did notice the sign...even before I noticed the woman with the cell phone. At first I was thinking "beatniks," an old word for hippies. Beadniks got my attention!

Bold colours: lime green awning and purple dress. I wonder about the statue and how it might fit into the bead theme? Also noticed that this store has branches elsewhere in some far-flung cities.

Great colour combination - that green with the purple of the woman's dress and the apricot - goes so well together.

For an ol' hippie like me, I couldn't miss the name of the shop and the words, Don't Worry Bead Happy. Great!

The woman is looking at you quizzically - but I guess she didn't speak as she was too busy on her portable (whoops, cell) phone.

Love your double portrait of the Parisian and the Naplese (oh, the name doesn't sound right !!!???) - great fun and lots of humour in there!

Oh... and lunch at Marie-Michelle! Now that was a treat! Thanks for taking the time for a photo before you started! Both photo and description are heavenly.

Oh no, Isabella, don't think of us with a cigarette in our mouth. I find that so vulgar. Cigarettes have recently been banned from a lot of places, at long last....

The colors in your photo are very beautiful. I love them.

(There are still some unfortunate smokers left...)
Are not the stereotypes somehow disappearing? Good in one way, but of course it's also a pity if we all start to look alike?

This photograph of this business is really nice. I like everything about it including the list of their other store locations.

Are we missing a cheeseburger? ;)
One of these days, smokers might be becoming a minority deserving protection; don't worry, I don't smoke... ;))
Have a great weekend. Meanwhile, Pest will be waiting for you!

Cute and funny comparison! Are you a typical Naples mademoiselle/madam? I could spend a lot of money at Beadniks! I like their statue too.

New York girls - super skinny, wearing ALL BLACK, big sunglasses, soy latte in one hand and yes, a cell phone in the other.

Interesting comments by the others. Makes me wonder how to describe the Maui aesthetic. Since it's all over the board here with everything from hippie to high fashion to tourist, it'd be really hard to nail it down to one single look. I guess casual could be the ONLY word that would apply to all.

I love bead stores. This store has the best name and slogan I have seen for a bead store. Fun photo. Did the lady realize you were getting her in the shot or was too busy gabbing?
