The edge

The Anhinga is the classic bird many people visualize when they think of a swamp; a place of Spanish moss draped trees in a watery environment.

It is a bird that is frequently seen sunning itself on a snag with wings spread and long neck outstretched. Its behavior of frequently bobbing its neck and making primitive calls adds to the mystique of its setting.

The Anhinga, also known as "water turkey" and "snake bird", is a regular on this blog...

Very nice catch... the water looks cool with the sharpness of the bird in his stance!

You told me its Ahinga Izzidee, i never knew. Do you know how fast it flies ? i have been dying to catch it flying. i was lucky only once but it was hazy. Its also called a Darter for its speed. a black beauty admiring itself here.
Very graceful in its flight.

The photo is really nice and the "snake bird" sonds nice in one way, but on the other hand makes me tremble; there must be too many snakes around! When I walk around in Paris, the only thing that makes me look on the ground is what the dogs may have left - snakes are rare!

The reflections on the water combined with the outstretched wings of the bird make for a fantastic composition, well done Isabella. Your Anhinga shots are different every time, I love them all.
