The edge
The Anhinga is the classic bird many people visualize when they think of a swamp; a place of Spanish moss draped trees in a watery environment.
It is a bird that is frequently seen sunning itself on a snag with wings spread and long neck outstretched. Its behavior of frequently bobbing its neck and making primitive calls adds to the mystique of its setting.
The Anhinga, also known as "water turkey" and "snake bird", is a regular on this blog...

Beautiful bird, and he has learned how to pose very well!
Very nice catch... the water looks cool with the sharpness of the bird in his stance!
You told me its Ahinga Izzidee, i never knew. Do you know how fast it flies ? i have been dying to catch it flying. i was lucky only once but it was hazy. Its also called a Darter for its speed. a black beauty admiring itself here.
Very graceful in its flight.
une belle pose pour cet oiseau, on dirait qu'il se fait chauffer au soleil. une belle photo
A beautiful poses for this bird, it looks like he is warm in the sun. A beautiful picture
The photo is really nice and the "snake bird" sonds nice in one way, but on the other hand makes me tremble; there must be too many snakes around! When I walk around in Paris, the only thing that makes me look on the ground is what the dogs may have left - snakes are rare!
I like the way these birds pose too with their wings out like that. Nice shot.
wonderfull type of bird ,is this kind dark blue? It looks almost black and its a fantastic moment that he/she almost wanted to fly away....
come and see my sunday walk , with the animals :cows, horses and a dog Yes of course... enjoy your week.

The reflections on the water combined with the outstretched wings of the bird make for a fantastic composition, well done Isabella. Your Anhinga shots are different every time, I love them all.
What a magical and mysterious photo!
Great shot! You should make a collage of your Anhinga posts!
Have a great working week! Can't imagine you'll only be enjoying sweet Naples winter time... ;))
Nice one, Isabella. The reflections and the colors are great.
I don't think I've ever seen that kind of bird.
Fantastic shot!
Beautiful picture, it looks almost like a painting. :)
Neat bird too.
the lit up background in the pic adds such elegance to it!!!! have a great sunday :)
We saw this bird in Charleston, SC, while visiting a plantation, going on their swamp tour. Beautiful.
