Virgin (canine) sacrifice?

Truffles at the canoe park

Sometimes words are superfluous. The picture says it all.

..and where is Truffles mistress, pray tell?!

Truffles is just gorgeous. Lovely photo of a super little doggy.

Ummm, well when you write of sacrifice this reminds me of those poor dogs on the Ile de Reunion who are used as shark bait. Usually small ones but I've even seen a photograph of a golden retriever with a hook through its nose. Don't ask! Locally we have a wonderful lady who is able to save a few (not enough tho) of these dogs and bring them into France and find new homes for them.

Anyway, on to brighter subjects. It looks as if Truffles is rather enjoying life in Naples...and happily keeping away from the aligators!

Izzy - will you do anything to get an alligator photo? How many pets would you be prepared to sacrifice, and do we get to see the results?

Ok, I'm confused here.

Isabella, what a cute dog Truffles is! This is at a canoe lake with alligators in it?

Do you have an alligator photo.

Jilly - I followed your story and was sickened by what I read and saw...What horror! I understand that the French government is punishing those rouge fishermen.

Ben - I can see from your avatar how confused you are ;-)
I was alluding to the fact that some small animals (dogs included) have been snatched by alligators!
And no, I am not offering my sweet Truffles to any such beast...

Gwen - I have posted no less than 13 alligator photos (11 of them from the same canoe park lake, but the April 14th post is my definitive one).
Soon, I will post another one I spotted yesterday morning.

I love it! I've taken several local shots of alligator warning signs. Sometimes the signs themselves are a hoot, but adding a cute animal like Truffles there makes it even better.

What a cute dog.

The world is sad. I read Jilly's comment - sickening. Then I realized that this might be your dog. I hope it is more of a joke for the sign than reality? Mercy.

I'm sure "mommy" is right there with a shotgun, just in case :)
God, the "bait" story is horrific.
If you can handle more cruelty to pets:

I have also heard of young or small children encountering these alligators when they play unattended close to ponds and lakes. True or false?
