That looks like a Bittern. Nice catch. I have never gotten so close to one. And what a great composition with the flower floating nearby. Is that a hibiscus bloom? How very cool.
Thanks,
Wayne

How absolutely true! Beautiful and unique shot if you look at it in detail.

Very nice photograph. The flower also looks familiar. Hibiscus blossom???

Wonderful catch. I love allthe twigs and leaf stems in the water, as well as the one bright one. Of course, having the bird pose just so was genius. My bird models never cooperate like that!

Flutterby makes so much more sense than butterfly. Wonder how the F and B got turned aroud? Butterfly sounds more like a stick of margarine with wings.

Nice photo of the a bird that appears to be leading mother natures orchestra, with his beak.

What a lovely photo - bird and puddle and fallen flower. Flutterby? love it. Makes sense too. What have butterflies got to do with butter?

Flutterby does make more sense, :)

Flutterby becoming butterfly ? Who was dislexic and changed the syllables around? Fun!

Love yesterday's patchwork, and the humour of the previous post: "do not feed dogs to the alligators" !!!

Nice image of a bittern, they are difficult to photograph, I also have a photograph of one of these birds, but a smaller version (are there different types of bitterns that look like this one?).

NO, IT WASN'T!

I enjoy your pictures immensely, but it does bug me (no pun intended) that you frequently post "Strange Animal Facts" that are complete fiction.

Flutterby is actually a more appropriate name, we should have kept with that name.
