Do you mean am I feeling frisky in the marshes? I don't think my stinkpot will be in the mood 'till April here at the earliest. (No, I don't know what that means, either!)
Oh what a fab photo. Amazing creatures with their striped necks and feet and that dark shell. Never seen them before or even heard of them. So do they stink? Perhaps it's the slime on their backs that makes them smell. I presume they 'roll in mud' but turtles don't roll, do they? Submerge? Explanation please...
Do they stink? Well, wouldn't you if you were rolling in the swamp...er...marshes all day long?
Stinkpot turtles (Sternotherus odoratus), along with the three other musk turtle species will secrete a foul smelling oily liquid when threatened. Males are especially aggressive and will quickly bite an aggressor.chelonia.org
I swear that I posted a comment on here earlier. I guess I just don't check carefully after I write my comments. My question was: where are the blogger turtle-porn police?
These aren't actually stinkpots. You'll rarely ever find a stinkpot basking as they're nocturnal and bottom dwelling. They do stink pretty bad if you disturb one.
Naples, on the Gulf Coast of Florida - the only subtropical area in the contiguous United States.
Year-round sunshine, white sandy beaches, championship golf courses (and the most millionaires per square mile in the world!).
So come, take a dip, the water's temperature is a constant 74°F. But please, DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS!!!

I love turtles and I LOVE this shot. The greens are so soothing and at the same time energizing.

This needs a TTT Rating.

Stinkpot Turtles ... Never heard of them. Do they actually stink!?
Everybody (almost) already asked if they stink, so I guess you have to answer the question now!
This photo is really nice and it's clearly a different "spring photo"!
... and YES, I feel the spring (perhaps not quite a "fever") ... and today the sun is shining again! Time to leave the PC!
Nice photograph, Isabella. I wish we had some here. We used to but they disappeared a long time ago.
Nice photo, Isabella. I like those leaves on the marshes.

I love turtles! Something so sweet about them...even when frisky.
